Never Bored in Orlando
A scare zone for the romance readers
Most scare zones are built to make you jump. This one is built to make you swoon, a little ironically. SeaWorld's own description promises "toxic obsession, masked men, and the most twisted love stories," set in a gothic garden full of roses, crumbling stone and ivy. In practice that means a street full of men in black, some masked, some in dark face paint, leaning on iron gates and peering out of windows like they walked straight off the cover of a dark fantasy paperback.
It is new for 2026 and it is part of Howl-O-Scream, SeaWorld Orlando's nighttime Halloween event (more on that below). The photo op out front sets the tone before you even get to the performers: a giant open book with a chapter called The Cathedral and, in huge letters across the pages, "Good Girls Go for the Bad Boy."

Meet the book boyfriends
The performers are the whole show here. Everyone is dressed in black: sleeveless shirts, chains, leather straps and fingerless skeleton gloves. Some wear masks or bandanas pulled up over the face, others go with dark makeup, and a few hold black roses they offer to guests as they walk past. A few of them skip the shirt entirely and show off spray-on abs, which is exactly as ridiculous and as committed to the bit as it sounds. The gothic set pieces give them plenty to work with, and they use all of it, draping themselves over gates, beckoning from windows and staring down anyone who makes eye contact for a second too long.
The move that gets the biggest reaction is the slide. A few of the performers drop and slide across the pavement, and they are throwing literal sparks as they go, not just the metaphorical kind. It gets a gasp every time, followed immediately by laughter, which pretty much sums up the whole zone.
Is it actually scary?
Not really, and that is the point. Just One More Chapter is not directly comedic, and the performers play it completely straight. But the concept is so specific, and so knowingly aimed at a certain kind of reader, that most people walk through it grinning. Expect more people stopping for photos than running away.
That makes it one of the easier scare zones to bring a friend who does not love Halloween events. If someone in your group would normally skip the haunted houses, this is the stop to bring them to. And if you are going as a couple, it makes for a very entertaining photo stop.
Why it went viral
Videos of the zone spread fast across TikTok and Instagram almost as soon as Howl-O-Scream opened, mostly from romance readers who could not believe a theme park had built a whole street out of their bookshelf. Our own reel is below if you want to see the performers in motion.
What is Howl-O-Scream?
Howl-O-Scream is SeaWorld Orlando's yearly Halloween event. On select nights in the fall, the park turns into a completely different place after dark, with walkways full of fog, costumed performers and themed streets built to scare you. It is a separate ticket from regular daytime admission, and it runs from the evening into the night.
For 2026 the event includes five haunted houses, six scare zones and two roaming hordes of performers who move through the crowds. Four rides stay open at night, Ice Breaker, Mako, Pipeline and Expedition Odyssey: Fire & Ice, and there are live shows and five themed bars serving cocktails. SeaWorld describes it as designed for mature audiences, with intense themes including blood and gore, so it is a different experience from a family trick-or-treat night. Just One More Chapter is the gentlest part of it by a wide margin.
The other five scare zones at Howl-O-Scream
Just One More Chapter is one of six scare zones at SeaWorld Orlando's Howl-O-Scream this year. The rest lean much harder into traditional scares:
- Dooms District (new): conspiracy theorists and survivalists preparing for the end of the world, and trying to recruit you.
- Extermination Order (new): the area is infested, and the exterminators are hunting anything that does not belong, guests included.
- Nekrosis (new): a seaside town frozen in Y2K where the dead never left, complete with a time-locked video store called Howl-O-Flix.
- Trailer Park Tragedy (returning): territorial residents defending what is left of their community from trespassers.
- Woodrot Hollow (returning): a rotting swamp guarded by a creature made of mud and moss.
The event also has five haunted houses, four of them new for 2026, including one based on I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Planning your visit
Howl-O-Scream runs on select nights from September 11 through October 31, 2026, and needs its own ticket separate from regular daytime admission. Nights and prices vary, so check the official Howl-O-Scream page for the current calendar before you pick a date.
Bring your phone charged. Between the giant book, the stone archways and the performers who are very happy to pose, this is the most photographed corner of the event.
